KLARN DEPALMA ELECTED
 CHAIR OF CBA

WILLIMANTIC, CONN., April 5, 2012 – Klarn DePalma, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of WFSB-TV 3 (Hartford/New Haven, Conn.) and WSHM-TV (Springfield, Mass.), has been elected the Chair of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association. DePalma has long been an active member of the statewide organization which represents the interests of Connecticut’s licensed TV and radio broadcasters. Most recently, he served as the association’s First Vice Chairman.

“Klarn is a dynamic member of our state’s broadcasting community,” explains Mike Rice, President of the Connecticut Broadcasters Association. “We value his leadership and vision as we move forward during this exciting technological time in our industry.”

DePalma has spent nearly two decades at WFSB-TV 3, which is owned by the Meredith Broadcasting Group. He joined the station as an Account Executive in 1993, was promoted to Local Sales Manager in 1998, to General Sales Manager in 2002, and then to Director of Sales for WFSB-TV and WSHM-TV. In 2005, DePalma was named Vice President and General Manager. In December 2010, he was named General Manager of the Year in Markets 26–50 by Broadcasting & Cable Magazine.

DePalma’s professional and community involvement includes serving on the Board of Trustees of the Connecticut Science Center, the Marketing Committee of The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, and the Board of Directors of the Channel 3 Kids Camp. He also is a faculty member at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

 

DePalma lives in Cheshire, Conn. with his wife, Kristin, and their three children, and is a Cheshire Youth Baseball coach and a Cheshire Girls’ Soccer coach. The East Haven, Conn. native graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Marketing, and earned his M.B.A. in Management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Since its establishment in 1955, the Connecticut Broadcasters Association has been a respected industry leader in legal, governmental, education and community issues on both the State and National levels. Members include broadcast TV stations, radio stations, vendors and companies with a business interest in broadcasting, educational facilities, and anyone with a personal interest in broadcasting.

NBC Connecticut’s Keisha Grant Receives NAACP’s "Most Influential" Distinction

NBC Connecticut’s Keisha Grant Receives NAACP’s “Most Influential” DistinctionWest Hartford, CT – December 14, 2011 – NBC Connecticut Anchor Keisha Grant has been named one of the “100 Most Influential Blacks in Connecticut” by the Connecticut chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). The award was presented in a ceremony at the Hartford Hilton on Saturday, December 10th, 2011.
“NBC Connecticut is proud to have Keisha Grant as part of our award-winning news team. We are pleased that her hard work as a journalist is recognized by the Connecticut community,” said David Doebler, NBC Connecticut President and General Manager.

 

Grant joined the NBC Connecticut news team in 2003 and currently serves as the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. co-anchor for the station’s newscasts. Earlier this year, Grant was also recognized by the New Britain, Connecticut Chapter of the NAACP with a Community Involvement Appreciation Award for her contributions to the community.
